The Plaza at Harmon Meadow

July 15, 2021

Took a trip to the corporate restaurant mall in Secaucus that is called "The Plaza at Harmon Meadow." I arrived before 11:00 am, and it looks like the restaurants open at 11:30, so there was nobody around.

How I got there:

  1. At a little before 10:00 am, took the light rail from Harsimus Cove, on the Tonnelle line, to Bergenline Avenue Station (which is the one before Tonnelle). Arrived at Bergenline Avenue Station at 10:13.
  2. Walked through Union City. Arrived at the parking area at 10:52

How I got home:

  1. Went to the bus stop next to Chase Bank. The stop is Plaza Dr at Harmon Meadow Blvd
  2. Bought a ticket from the machine. Destination is Hoboken. Bus is 85
  3. Bus takes about a half hour, and lets me off at Congress & Palisades
  4. Two minute walk to elevator and down to 9th street light rail station
  5. 9th street light rail station to Harsimus Cove.
Would like to try:
  1. Return by walking across the railroad tracks and then looking for a way down to Tonnelle Avenue. Walk north on Tonnelle Avenue to the Tonnelle Avenue light rail station
    OR
  2. Take bus 85 to and from Hoboken Terminal

July 21, 2021

  1. Took the light rail to the bus in Hoboken
  2. Took the 85 bus in Hoboken to Harmon Meadow
  3. Got off at the 21630 bus top which is on plaza drive and across from the Holiday Inn which is closed due to Covid. Can cut through the parking lot that is behind the bus stop
  4. 21627 is my return bus stop. Bus 85 leaves from there to Hoboken. The return bus runs every half hour on the 03. Mine was eleven minutes late.
October 14, 2021
  1. Took light rail to Hoboken to bus 85 to Park Plaza Dr. (which is the first stop at Harmon Meadow.)
  2. To return home, I waited at the Park Plaza Dr. bus station for the 85 bus. This is the stop closest to Paterson Plank Road. The posted schedule looked somewhat correct, but the app on my phone was confusing.

Circle Line Oktoberfest fall foliage cruise to Bear Mountain

  1. We went on October 2, 2021
  2. We got premier seating which allowed us to jump the line while boarding and the seats, on the top level of 3 levels, were more comfortable. However, because we ended up watching the band most of the time, we didn't use our premier seating all that much. It might still be worth it, though, because the bathroom on that level had shorter lines. With everyone drinking, the lines were long at the bathroom.
  3. The band plays on the midlevel.
  4. This trip was from 9 am to about 5 pm. They drop us at Bear Mountain for about 2 and a half hours for hiking or whatever. I have plenty of pictures
  5. Once again, just like a few years ago, the platform for embarking and disembarking was flooded. We managed, but it was hard for some people.
  6. The band was fantastic. They're called Street Beat Brass
  7. This year, the Bear Mountain Inn was closed because pandemic. We got enough to eat on the boat. Chicken bratwurst, sauerkraut, cabbage, potatoes, and they also had regular ferry food such as pizza and some wraps. The emphasis was on the beer, but they had wine and whiskey too.
  8. I was wearing my Moynihan jacket which is my warm fall jacket, but could have used a winter jacket, even downstairs indoors. It didn't seem heated.

Walking the new East Midtown Greenway

We were already in the city, on 5th avenue and 20th.  So we took the 6 train to 59th street and walked east and south to get to 54th stree...
