Trip from NYC to Philadelphia

Here are all the steps from yesterday's trip

  1. Left the house at 8 am
  2. Took the PATH train from Grove Street to the last exit, which is Newark Penn Station
  3. At Newark Penn Station, I bought a combo ticket for NJ Transit to Trenton, plus SEPTA to Philadelphia. This gave me two one-way tickets which look like NJ Transit Light Rail tickets.
  4. Took NJ Transit to Trenton. Arrived at about 10:00 am.
  5. Left Trenton on SEPTA on time at 10:43
  6. Arrived at 30th street at 1130
  7. Had lunch at the 30th street station at Jersey Mike's
  8. Got on the Bolt Bus at 1230 without a reservation because they were taking walk-ons. Paid 15 dollars in cash.
  9. Arrived at my New York City destination at 2:24
  10. The Bolt Bus dropped us on 34th between 10th and 11th
  11. Walked East a few blocks to pick up the C train
  12. Took the C train to Chambers
  13. Walked to the Battery Park Library to pick up a DVD
  14. Walked back to the Oculus to meet someone at the employee entrance of 4 World Trade Center which is on the balcony level of the Oculus (next to Swatches.)
  15. Walked to El Vez for dinner on Vesey.
  16. Walked my friend back to the C train from inside the Oculus Balcony Level
  17. Walked to the Battery Park/Brookfield Place/WFC Ferry.
  18. Took the ferry to Paulus Hook.
  19. Took the light rail from Exchange Place to home.

Notes
  1. Megabus had only a partial app. It goes to their website
  2. It looks like both Megabus and Bolt won't store my credit card information until the first time I use my credit card (which I haven't yet)
  3. I used cash for a walk-on but I don't know if that's necessary.

Megabus and Bolt Bus

Megabus and Bolt Bus

Both the Megabus and the Bolt Bus are low priced, luxury buses that run to major cities such as Philadelphia. Both bus lines have no terminal and you must buy your tickets online on their websites. They do not have apps for tix. You'll get a confirmation page to your email. Show the confirmation number to the bus driver.

Both bus lines have wi-fi and charging power.

Megabus

  1. Megabus has only one pickup and dropoff point in Manhattan. There are four stops that run right in a row along 34th street between 11th and 12th avenue. You'll see the side of the Javitz Center across the street, running along 34th street.
  2. Megabus is blue
  3. It arrives at the 30th street station in Philadelphia

Bolt Bus

Bolt Bus has three locations in New York City. One of them is reported incorrectly on the web, in Google Maps, and some printed materials
  1. 37th Street and 12th Avenue (not 33rd)
  2. 101 6th Ave, NY 10014
  3. 672 1st Ave, NY 10016

Walking the new East Midtown Greenway

We were already in the city, on 5th avenue and 20th.  So we took the 6 train to 59th street and walked east and south to get to 54th stree...
