Trip to Decker Farm in Staten Island

  1. Took the PATH to the Oculus
  2. Headed in the direction of Fulton but went up the first exit in the hallway which is Dey
  3. The X17 bus is right there at street level
  4. The X17 bus is an express bus, so we think we paid $6.50 but not sure because we used our metro cards
  5. The X17 took us through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, through Brookly from which we could see Bay Ridge, and then over the Verazano Narrows Bridge and into Staten Island.
  6. The driver did not drop us by Vassar, but instead by the Staten Island Mall which was a little closer to Decker Farm than we had expected.
  7. It was only an eleven minute walk from the stop to Decker Farm
  8. We went on a hay ride and took some pictures. Their food truck had junk and hot dogs and pumpkin pie of course. The admission is $6.00 for adults, which does not include a pumpkin but does include the hay ride. This farm was like a baby Secor Farms. It was fun
  9. On the way out we saw a shuttle bus to Richmondtowne, and we asked the bus driver if we could ride it to Richmondtown. That was a five minute ride
  10. From Richmonddtown we decided to do the 25 minute walk to the SIR (Staten Island Railroad) which takes our MTA card. This was the Oakwood Heights station.
  11. We took SIR from Oakwood Heights all the way to the Staten Island Ferry, and then took the Staten Island Ferry home
The fare for a subway or local bus ride is $2.75*. The fare for an express bus ride is $6.50. If you qualify for reduced fare, you can travel for half fare. Up to three children 44 inches tall and under ride for free on subways and local buses when accompanied by a fare paying adult.
